POSITION DESCRIPTION: Campaign Director

Maine Public Broadcasting Network is launching a bold five-year strategic plan to transform public media across the region. We are seeking an experienced Campaign Leader who will build relationships with prospective donors and engage them to make aspirational and transformational gifts.

A two-phased campaign is underway to raise money for MPBN’s strategic initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President of Development and working closely with the President’s Office, Campaign Chair, and the Development team, this position will have daily responsibilities for capital campaign plan development and the cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors.

The Campaign Director is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, effective closure and stewardship of major donors and securing five, six and seven figure gifts. This individual will work with the core development team developing campaign strategies, executing research, writing case statements as well as donor proposals. The Director will work effectively to manage high level staff and volunteer leaders with cultivation, stewardship and solicitations of campaign prospects. DUTIES:

DUTIES:

  1. Play a major role in generating campaign goals and strategies including the development of the case for support.
  2. Works closely with the development team, President’s Office, and manages the Campaign Committee to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, secure gifts from, and steward campaign donors.
  3. Ensures there is an effective strategy for each major donor campaign prospect.
  4. Manages her/his own prospect portfolio and maintains excellent and timely major donor relations through personal contacts, phone calls, emails, written correspondence and well-prepared written proposals.
  5. Manages major donor prospect researcher to ensure effective campaign reporting, thorough research of prospects, and appropriate gift tracking.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or higher with three to five years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising or public broadcasting as well as capital campaign experience. Experience in soliciting and closing five, six and seven figure gifts. Proven experience in capital campaign fundraising. Planned giving experience preferred, willingness to learn essential. Knowledge of Maine and national funders, including any funders with a particular interest in public broadcasting helpful. The candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team and individually is required. Experience and facility in using donor database programs, Microsoft Office, and other software and platforms. Willingness and the ability to travel, with a valid driver’s license, required. Must be energetic, motivated and enthusiastic about the mission of public broadcasting.
