Stewardship and Communication Officer

DESCRIPTION:

This is a newly created position designed to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding major gifts effort, and is a unique opportunity for an experienced, creative development professional. The Stewardship and Communication Officer will oversee a comprehensive stewardship and donor relations initiative for the Major Gifts program. This position will manage a portfolio of annual donors, oversee activities designed to cultivate and maintain long-term, quality relationships with major donors, prospects and volunteers, with the goal of deepening commitments and engagement, and inspiring high-level philanthropic support. Also, this position is responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive communications plan, using all available platforms, including online. This individual will report directly to the Director of Major Gifts.

DUTIES:

  • Manage a portfolio of annual donors, as well as programs and activities designed to maintain and cultivate long-term, quality relationships with donors, prospects, board members and volunteers that leads to deepening commitment and philanthropic support.
  • Develop and manage communications plan for the Major Gifts team.
  • Design, manage and implement a comprehensive donor relations and communications system including programmatic funds communications, cultivation messages, stewardship reports, and gift acknowledgments.
  • Work with major gift officers and others to develop and implement stewardship strategies that strengthen long-term relationships with major donors
  • Work with the Development and Marketing/Public Relations teams to ensure consistency among various stewardship materials
  • Arrange recognition and cultivation events and attend stewardship and cultivation events as needed
  • Additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two to three years’ experience in successful non-profit fundraising or commensurate experience required.
  • Development writing experience required.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects required.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and generate reports required.
  • Must be able to take the initiative to coordinate processes.
  • Ability to meet deadlines required.
  • Professional attitude and the ability to maintain confidentiality required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Familiarity with membership databases preferred.
