Josie, who joined MPBN in September 2008, is originally from Ellicott City, Maryland, just outside of Baltimore, and spent her formative teen years in Taichung, Taiwan, where her parents originally hail from. She came back to the United States to attend Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, where she studied psychology and history and from which she graduated in 1999.
Right out of college she took a job at the Springfield Union News & Sunday Republican (now known simply as the Springfield Republican), where she won an award for her coverage of the 2000 U.S. Census as it was conducted in her community.
Josie came to Maine in 2001 to take a job as a reporter at the Portland Press Herald, where she won an award in 2005 from the New England Press News Executives Association for her coverage of consumer affairs.
