LePage Withdraws from Statewide, Multicast Debate
LEWISTON, October 26 – GOP candidate for governor Paul LePage has withdrawn from Maine Public Broadcasting Network's live Your Vote 2010 debate scheduled for 8:00 pm Thursday, October 28th. The debate is being held at Bates College in Lewiston, and will be broadcast statewide on MPBN's television and radio services, and streamed live and archived on the web at www.mpbn.net.
LePage campaign spokesman Brent Littlefield notified MPBN at 4:00 pm Wednesday that Lepage had decided instead to "meet with voters" as part of his "People Before Politics" initiative. MPBN News Director Keith Shortall says he's disappointed that LePage has withdrawn from the debate, but that MPBN will go ahead with the live broadcast at the Olin Arts Center with the remaining four candidates.
