Maine Maine Public Broadcasting Coming to Millinocket For Live Broadcast and Town Meeting
(LEWISTON, Maine) – The Maine Public Broadcasting Network is taking its award winning radio news program – Maine Things Considered – on the road. The public broadcaster will originate its daily program live from Millinocket on Friday, September 16.
The public is invited to attend the broadcast with hosts Tom Porter and Josie Huang, which will include stories from Millinocket and the region.
The live broadcast will take place from 5:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and originate from the New England Outdoor Center's Twin Pine Camps Cabins and Coveside Guest Houses Twin Pine Camps, Black Cat Rd. on Millinocket Lake. A town-meeting-style public forum will be held immediately following the broadcast.
“It is important to hear what our listeners, viewers and new media visitors in northern Maine want as we plan for the future in these uncertain economic times,” said MPBN President and CEO Jim Dowe. “We want to be sure that in five years, ten years, MPBN remains as relevant to the lives of Maine people as it is today – ideally even more so. These meetings offer the public a chance to tell us what they’re going to want from MPBN which will assist us in providing a clear signal for the future.”
The Millinocket live broadcast and town meeting are part of an ongoing initiative that MPBN has been pursuing over the past several years. Public input from the meetings will be reviewed by MPBN’s staff and Board of Trustees and will assist MPBN in allocating limited public broadcasting resources to attain the greatest impact in the months and years ahead.
Maine Things Considered can be heard weekday evenings at 5:30 on MPBN radio. The program is also streamed live and archived online.
