MPBN Retracts Release of Arbitron Ratings Data
(Portland) – The Maine Public Broadcasting Network has issued a retraction of its release and citation earlier this week of proprietary ratings estimates for commercial radio stations in the Portland and Bangor markets. The estimates are the copyrighted property of Arbitron, Inc., and the data was provided outside of the terms of the agreement and license to which MPBN subscribes.
In addition, MPBN’s release incorrectly suggested that there were calculation errors and the figures may not be accurate. Arbitron has not issued any statements about errors in their published estimates.
MPBN has expressed its regret to Arbitron about the release of this data, and has pledged to fully abide by the terms of the license.
