MPBN Works to Avert Transmitter Shutdowns

In response to the concerns of its listeners, viewers, stakeholders, the governor and legislators, the Maine Public Broadcasting Network (MPBN) has rescinded its plans to limit radio and television transmissions to the eastern and northern counties of the state.

MPBN ANNOUNCES AUG. 1ST SUPER THURSDAY ONE-DAY PLEDGE DRIVE

Building off the success of MPBN’s previous Super Thursday One-Day Pledge drives, the statewide network has announced another single-day fundraising effort on Thursday, August 1st. The on-air drive will run from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and online donations can be made throughout the day starting at midnight.

MPBN Coming to Calais to Discuss the Public Media Landscape in Maine

The next Maine Public Broadcasting Network town meeting is being held in Calais on Tuesday April 14 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Calais Motor Inn. It's part of a series of town meetings being held across the state in the coming year to obtain feedback about the public’s media consumption habits and how they might be changing over time. The meetings are part of a concerted effort by MPBN to effectively plan for the next five to ten years amid a rapidly evolving media landscape.

Calais FM Transmitter on Temporary Low Power

A serious problem developed last week with MPBN's WMED-FM transmitter in Calais according to Senior Techincal Officer & Senior Vice President Gil Maxwell.

MPBN is running at reduced power due to a problem with the antenna mounted at the top of the tower. Maxwell says, "assement crews have determined that the antenna will need to be removed from the tower and repaired, hopefully at the site."
