MPBN Surpasses One-Day Radio Drive Goal

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network’s innovative Super Thursday One-Day Radio Pledge effort exceeded its spring membership drive goal on Thursday night, raising $374,000. During the 24-hour period, over 3,750 listeners donated by phone and online resulting in a pledge total that set a record for the organization. More than 18% of the callers were new members.

The 35th Boston/New England Emmy Award nominations have been announced, and five programs from the Maine Public Broadcasting Network garnered nominations. The Boston/New England Emmy Awards recognize the best work being done in Television throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Upstate New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.

MPBN’s Maine Capitol Connection Returns

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces the return of the Maine Capitol Connection on Wednesday, January 8th at 9:00 a.m. This is the second year of the free over-the-air television and cable channel devoted to providing public access to the political processes of the Maine State Legislature in Augusta. MPBN Announces Selection of New Music Director and Morning Classical Host

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces the selection of Robin Rilette as MPBN‟s new Music Director and host of MPBN‟s Morning Classical Music program. The result of a comprehensive national search, Rilette was vetted by MPBN staff in Bangor and Portland, community leaders in Maine, and members of arts organizations across the state. Rilette is expected to join MPBN in early February and immediately take over the Morning Classical host position.

Preliminary Plans for Dedicated Legislative Channel from Augusta

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces preliminary plans to launch a free over-the-air television channel devoted to covering the Maine State Legislature in Augusta, Maine. The service could potentially launch as early as February 2013 as part of a six month pilot program to test the concept. Coverage would include daily sessions of the House of Representatives and the Maine Senate as well as potentially select committee hearings and press conferences.
