Search for Classical Music Host/Manager for Dedicated Classical Music Radio Network

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announced the launch of a national search to find an experienced on-air host with deep broadcasting and managerial experience for MPBN’s Morning Classical host position. The chosen candidate will concurrently assist MPBN in launching a separate, full-time music channel as part of MPBN’s 2013 to 2018 Strategic Plan. The search will begin immediately and MPBN anticipates a lengthy vetting process to find the most qualified candidate.

MPBN RECOGNIZED FOR INCREASING AUDIENCE SIZE OVER PAST YEAR

The Public Television Programmers Association has named MPBN television programmer Kelly Luoma as the recipient of the 2013 Charles Impaglia Programmer of the Year Award. The award, announced on May 12th in Miami, recognizes the programmer and station that displays the most significant and consistent increases in audience growth, both Prime Time and Whole Day.

MPBN’S A.J. HIGGINS NAMED AMONG BEST POLITICAL REPORTERS IN MAINE

Maine Public Broadcasting’s A.J. Higgins has been named among the four best political reporters in Maine, according to the Best State-Based Political Reporters of 2013 list compiled by The Washington Post’s political blog, The Fix. Higgins is MPBN’s Chief Political Correspondent and State House Bureau Chief.

Calais FM Transmitter on Temporary Low Power

A serious problem developed last week with MPBN's WMED-FM transmitter in Calais according to Senior Techincal Officer & Senior Vice President Gil Maxwell.

MPBN is running at reduced power due to a problem with the antenna mounted at the top of the tower. Maxwell says, "assement crews have determined that the antenna will need to be removed from the tower and repaired, hopefully at the site."
