MPBN is one of only 14 grant recipients in the USDA's Public Television Digital Transition program this year. This grant will provide the necessary funding required to revamp MPBN's master control facilities allowing MPBN to record, playback, as well as acquire High Definition programming.

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network was disappointed to learn this week that Governor Paul LePage is once again recommending the elimination of 100% of state funding for MPBN, effective July 1, 2012. A similar proposal just last year was rejected by the Legislature.

MPBN will broadcast exclusive, full BBC live coverage of the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton beginning at 3:00 am on Friday, April 29, 2011. The coverage is expected to last 5 1/2 hours and will be rebroadcast the following day, Saturday, April 30 from 6:15 am.

Starting Monday July 25, the Maine Public Broadcasting Network will significantly improve the signal of its over-the-air television service in the Bangor viewing area with new broadcast equipment on Blackcap Mountain in Eddington.

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces the commencement of a television pledge drive starting on November 24th and ending on December 9th. The statewide network is providing viewers with unique content during the pledge period as MPBN asks viewers to demonstrate their commitment and dedication to MPBN programming by showing their support.
