MPBN Announces Class A Basketball Finals Broadcast Change

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces a change in its coverage of the 2014 Maine Principals’ Association Invitational High School Basketball Tournament. MPBN has been informed by Time Warner Cable that it has been unable to come to an agreement to continue its partnership with the Cumberland County Civic Center and is therefore unable to install equipment needed to produce the games in Portland. As a result, MPBN will not be provided with the Boys Class A Championship and the Girls Class A Championship signals needed to broadcast these two games state-wide as scheduled on March 1st.

MPBN Announces Selection of New Music Director and Morning Classical Host

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces the selection of Robin Rilette as MPBN‟s new Music Director and host of MPBN‟s Morning Classical Music program. The result of a comprehensive national search, Rilette was vetted by MPBN staff in Bangor and Portland, community leaders in Maine, and members of arts organizations across the state. Rilette is expected to join MPBN in early February and immediately take over the Morning Classical host position.

MPBN’s Maine Capitol Connection Returns

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces the return of the Maine Capitol Connection on Wednesday, January 8th at 9:00 a.m. This is the second year of the free over-the-air television and cable channel devoted to providing public access to the political processes of the Maine State Legislature in Augusta. Journalist Mal Leary will again serve as the Managing Editor and Director of the channel.
