The Return of the High 5 and Basketball Tournament Game DVDs for Purchase

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces two additional ways for basketball fans across the state to help support MPBN’s coverage and broadcast of the Maine Principals’ Association Invitational High School Basketball Tournament. MPBN is bringing back the High 5 initiative where viewers can go online and give MPBN a “High 5” donation of five or ten dollars and once again MPBN is offering fans the opportunity to purchase tournament game DVDs.

MPBN Announces Public Screenings of Doc Martin Season 6 Premiere

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces two free screenings of the Season 6 premiere of Doc Martin before the show is broadcast across the state. The first event will be held at the Port City Music Hall in Portland on Wednesday, February 26th and the second screening will take place at The GRAND in Ellsworth on Thursday, March 6th. MPBN Announces Class A Basketball Finals Broadcast Change

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces a change in its coverage of the 2014 Maine Principals’ Association Invitational High School Basketball Tournament. MPBN has been informed by Time Warner Cable that it has been unable to come to an agreement to continue its partnership with the Cumberland County Civic Center and is therefore unable to install equipment needed to produce the games in Portland. As a result, MPBN will not be provided with the Boys Class A Championship and the Girls Class A Championship signals needed to broadcast these two games state-wide as scheduled on March 1st.

MPBN Announces Selection of New Music Director and Morning Classical Host

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces the selection of Robin Rilette as MPBN‟s new Music Director and host of MPBN‟s Morning Classical Music program. The result of a comprehensive national search, Rilette was vetted by MPBN staff in Bangor and Portland, community leaders in Maine, and members of arts organizations across the state. Rilette is expected to join MPBN in early February and immediately take over the Morning Classical host position.
