MPBN Wins Multiple Maine Association of Broadcasters Awards

The Maine Association of Broadcasters announced the recipients of the 2014 MAB News and Creative Awards at the MAB convention in Portland on September 28th honoring the best of Maine broadcasting. The Maine Public Broadcasting Network received nine awards across a wide range of specialties in the competition’s Radio and Television Categories.

Nora Flaherty Joins the MPBN News Team

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces the arrival of Nora Flaherty as its newest addition to the MPBN News staff. Flaherty comes to MPBN from North County Public Radio in Canton, New York, where she worked as a reporter, host and producer of All Before Five, which aired live just before NPR’s All Things Considered, and, most recently, as NCPR’s first digital editor.

MPBN Announces Formation of Junior Broadcaster Board

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces the formation of the MPBN Junior Broadcaster Board to be made up of Maine high school sophomore and junior students. Slated to launch in February of 2015, MPBN is accepting applications to join the Board through November 15th.

MPBN Announces Downton Envy Cure

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces the launch of an awareness campaign named Downton Envy. The campaign is designed to alert general television viewers and PBS fans that MPBN is showing all Downton Abbey episodes from start to finish starting Sunday, September 14th through the new season in January, 2015.

MPBN’s What Listening Looks Like Campaign Concludes

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network held a month-long promotion in August titled ―What Listening Looks Like‖ encouraging all MPBN Radio listeners to submit a selfie depicting how and where they listen to MPBN Radio programs. MPBN partnered with Hunts Photo & Video of South Portland, who donated $5 for each selfie submitted. The campaign resulted in nearly $1000 in MPBN support from the nearly 200 selfies submitted.
