Farmers Face The Threat of Late Blight

As if the wet weather weren't causing enough problems for farmers, there's a new and potentially more devastating threat on the horizon. It's called "Late Blight" and it's a disease that is easily spread and very deadly for tomatos and especially potatos. It's also the disease that led to the great Irish potato famine. Conditions are perfect for late blight to thrive this growing season and the disease has gained a foothold, in part, because of infected seedlings were sold at retail stores around the northeast.
