| The Federal Communications Commission is reviewing the way it oversees the development of broadband, with the goal of providing greater access to all Americans and at fair and affordable rates. |
|
Maine Public Advocate Richard Davies hopes that includes delegating some oversight to state regulators.
"To the degree that we're granted some ability to intervene in those situations and have some real authority to move those companies to respond to consumer complaints, consumer needs, I think that the consumer's going to be far beter off," said Davies.
For example, he adds, state regulators are better equipped to assess local conditions and are more responsive to consumer complaints. He says getting the states involved will be better for consumers.
