Nagusky Appointed Maine's Acting DEP Commissioner
09/07/2010 03:45 PM ET

Beth Nagusky, the former head of the Governor's Office of Energy Independence and Security, will fill the post being vacated by David Littell, who's moved to the Public Utilities Commission.

Gov. John Baldacci has appointed a replacement for Maine Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner David Littell. Baldacci announced today that he's appointed DEP Office of Innovation and Assistance Director Beth Nagusky as acting commissioner of the department. Littell was recently approved as a member of the Maine Public Utilities Commission.

Nagusky was the state's first director of the Governor's Office of Energy Independence and Security. Baldacci credits her with making Maine state government "a model" of energy efficiency, and with leading the effort to weatherize Maine homes.

Nagusky has also served as director of the Independent Energy Producers of Maine, and was a staff attorney at the Natural Resources Council of Maine, an environmental lobbying group. She holds a bachelors degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Case Western Reserve Law School, according to Baldacci's office.
