Republican Paul LePage continues to hold a significant lead in the race for governor, according to a new survey of 600 likely Maine voters.
The survey conducted by Critical Insights for several state newspapers gives LePage 38 percent, followed by 25 cent for Democrat Libby Mitchell and 11 percent for Independent Eliot Cutler.
The poll shows Independent Shawn Moody with 4 percent of the vote, and Independent Kevin Scott with 1 percent.
But 21 percent of voters who were surveyed were undecided, leaving a lot of room for change in the race in the coming weeks.
The poll was conducted last Monday, the same day LePage made an angry exit from an Augusta news conference after being pressed about tax exemptions his wife received on homes she owns in Maine and Florida, so the poll doesn't reflect reaction to that event. |
