AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) _ Democratic U.S. Congressman Mike Michaud has won voters' support for a sixth term representing Maine's 2nd District, defeating Republican Kevin Raye in a rematch.
Michaud is a former paper worker from Millinocket. He benefited in Tuesday's voting from his advantage being the incumbent.
Raye is from Perry and owns a family mustard company. He's finishing a term as state Senate president.
Michaud and Raye squared off a decade ago for what was then an open seat for the district, covering all of Maine except for part of the southern coast.
In this fall's campaign, Michaud tied his working-class roots to policies to protect American jobs and emphasized his support for veterans' causes. Raye highlighted his support for business issues.
