Republican U.S. Senate candidate Charlie Summers says he'll get back to the business of being Maine's secretary of state now that he's lost the race to independent Angus King.
Addressing a small crowd of supporters at a Portland hotel (left), Summers said he called King to congratulate him and offer his support.
"We have a very difficult situation that this country faces, and I think that it's critically important that we line up behind our representatives and make sure that they know that they have the support, certainly from me and from all of us in Maine," Summers said.
It's not the first time Summers has faced political defeat. He ran unsuccessfully for a Maine U.S. House seat in two previous races.
