Dr. Larry Catlett says our health care system is misnamed. It should be called, he says "sick care," because that's what it spends most of our money on. Dr. Catlett says we should spend more on improving lifestyle choices that cause much of the sickness our health system then tries to treat.

Dr. Catlett has worked with Cianbro Corporation on its "wellness" program and says it has reduced Cianbro's costs by $4 million.  Dr. Catlett talked with MPBN Morning Edition host Irwin Gratz about what makes an effective wellness program and why it should be part of federal, health care reforms.

Dr. Catlett will take part in a conference, "Taking Charge of Your Company's Healthcare Dollar$," Wednesday, December 2, 200,9 from 7:30 a.m.  to noon, at the Maine Principal's Association, 50 Industrial Drive, Augusta.
