A Kennebunkport girl with a rare condition who became nationally known after being featured on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" has died.
Shiloh Pepin, 10, died Friday at Maine Medical Center. Pepin was born with her legs fused together, a rare condition called "mermaid syndrome." So-called sirenomelia syndrome also affects internal organs. Pepin had only one partially-working kidney and other problems with her internal organs.
Pepin had been hospitalized since last week in critical condition, according to the Associated Press.
