Thursday, July 18 at 8:00 pm
Sunday, July 21 at 10:30 pm
King George and Queen Mary

This program explores the lives of George V and Mary of Teck, and their attempts at modernising the British monarchy in response to the massive social changes during and following World War I. In the face of unstoppable social change after the First World War, George V turned out to be a remarkable innovator, creating the House of Windsor, embracing democratic reform, and reinventing many of the royal traditions that we know today. When the abdication crisis threatened the future of the House of Windsor, Queen Mary was the rock to which the nation turned as a symbol of stability and continuity.

Episode 1, airing on July 11 and July 14, focuses on King George V. Episode 2, airing July 18 and July 21, focuses on Queen Mary.
