Maine's Hidden History: Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Only Known Visit to Maine
01/21/2013   Reported By: Tom Porter

One fact about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. that many people are perhaps not aware of is that at the height of the civil rights struggle, in May, 1964, he came to deliver a couple of sermons in Maine - his one and only visit to the state that we know about. In the first in a new series on Maine Things Considered looking at the state's hidden history, we hear from local historian and former state legislator Herb Adams, who's written about this little-known event. Adams spoke with Maine Things Considered host Tom Porter.
