Blind NH Sled Dog Thrives With Brother's Help
01/25/2013 8:20 AM ET

A New Hampshire sled dog kennel that takes in rescues and "second-chance" dogs is also home to a blind dog that relies on his brother to keep up with the rest of the team.

JEFFERSON, N.H. (AP) _ Gonzo, an 8-year-old Alaskan husky, went blind three years ago. But it was clear that he wanted to keep running with the other dogs at the Muddy Paw Sled Dog Kennel in Jefferson, which offers dog sled rides for tourists and serves as an adoption shelter for rescued and retired sled dogs.

Gonzo got back into his routine with help from his brother, Poncho, who nudges him in the right direction. During one trip, he even grabbed Gonzo's harness with his teeth and lifted him out of the snow when Gonzo got stuck.
