Portland Dairy Spearheads Campaign to Bolster Dairy Farmer Money Pool
02/03/2013   Reported By: Irwin Gratz

Portland's Oakhurst Dairy would like you to buy more of its milk. No surprise there. What makes this worthy of our attention is: Why? It turns out that because the Bangor processing plant that produced Garelick Farms milk has been closed, Maine dairy farmers will lose money. The reason is that Garelick's parent company, Dean Foods, will no longer be required to pay into the Maine Milk Pool. Oakhurst Co-President Tom Brigham talked with MPBN's Irwin Gratz about that.
