| Snowmobile riders didn't let the massive snowstorm stop a snowmobile parade in Rangeley, Maine, but the bad weather meant the effort fell far short of breaking the record. |

RANGELEY, Maine (AP) _ Judy Morton of the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce said there were 157 participants in Saturday's event, which raised close to $7,000 for cystic fibrosis research. Many riders were unable to make it to the Rangeley region because of a blizzard that made travel hazardous.
Guinness World Records said the existing record of 820 sleds in a parade was set in 2004 in Roseau, Minn.
For Saturday's event, riders gathered in Oquossoc village and rode 30 miles on a route that took them to Rangeley and back. Morton said they'll try for the world record next year.
