Affidavit: Sex Offender Forced to Take Overdose
03/21/2013 12:32 PM ET

The death of Lawrence Lewis, 68, was linked to a four-hour standoff the same day that ended with 59-year-old Bruce Heal, also known as Bruce King, killing himself on Interstate 95.

LINCOLN, Maine (AP) _ Maine State Police say a 59-year-old man told law officers before fatally shooting himself during a standoff that he killed a registered sex offender by forcing him to drink two bottles of nitroglycerin and a bottle of "pysch meds'' because he'd been molesting children.

Police last week declared 68-year-old Lawrence Lewis' death a homicide after finding his body hidden inside his house in Molunkus Township.

His death was linked to a four-hour standoff the same day that ended with 59-year-old Bruce Heal, also known as Bruce King, killing himself inside a U-Haul truck on Interstate 95 near Lincoln.

An affidavit in Lincoln District Court said Heal told police during the standoff that he had reported Lewis for molesting children and killed him because nobody was doing anything about it.
