Maine Heating Oil Prices Continue Downward Slide

State energy officials are attributing the drop to a strong dollar and forecasts for slower global economic growth.

Heating oil prices in Maine fell by an average of 3 cents a gallon in the past week. The Governor's Energy Office says its weekly survey finds that the average cash price for No. 2 heating oil in Maine now stands at $3.55 a gallon.

Kerosene prices also fell, to $3.99 a gallon, a drop of 4 cents, while propane, based on an annual use of 900 gallons, also fell 4 cents a gallon, to $2.73.

Actual heating oil prices tagged in the survey ranged from a low of $3.26 a gallon, found in several regions of the state, to a high of $3.80 a gallon, found in eastern Maine.
