Richard Simis says he was inside the Town Hill Market at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday when a man came in with a gun and a roll of duct tape demanding money.

BAR HARBOR, Maine (AP) _ A Millinocket man is in jail after a Bar Harbor store owner wrestled him to the ground and held him for police after he allegedly tried to rob the store.

Richard Simis says he was inside the Town Hill Market at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday when a man came in with a gun and a roll of duct tape demanding money.

Rather than give up the cash, Simis tells WZON-AM that he lunged at the man and wrestled him on the floor. He says the gun went off a couple of times before he could take the weapon away.

A passer-by called 911, and Simis held the man down until police arrived.

Thirty-nine-year-old Chris Stevens is in jail on multiple charges.
