Paintball Fired after Vote to Limit Gun Magazines
04/26/2013 01:05 PM ET

Police are investigating after someone fired a paintball at the home of Sen. David Dutremble, a York County Democrat, who voted to support a bill limiting gun magazines in Maine to 10 rounds.

BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) _ A Maine lawmaker who cast a critical vote on gun control legislation says someone fired a paintball gun at the window of his home in an attempt to intimidate him.

Sen. David Dutremble broke a 6-6 tie Tuesday in supporting a bill to limit gun magazines to 10 rounds in Maine, sending the bill to the full Legislature with an "ought to pass'' recommendation from the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee.

The following evening, police received a report of someone firing a paintball at a second-floor window in his home. The paint caused a mess but didn't break the window.

The Portland Press Herald says Dutremble said in a statement that lawmakers should not be subjected to threats or acts of violence. Police are investigating.
