LEWISTON, Maine (AP) _ Authorities say the third major fire in a week in downtown Lewiston, Maine, has destroyed two more apartment buildings (right), bringing the total to nine.

One hundred firefighters battled the latest blaze, which destroyed two buildings that were vacant while being remodeled. A third building was damaged.

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported early Monday.

More than 180 people were left homeless by two previous fires in the past week, one a week ago and one on Saturday. All three were in the same general area.

Two 12-year-old boys are facing arson charges in connection with the prior blazes.

Six fire marshal investigators were on the scene to determine the cause of the latest fire.
