05/17/2013 10:12 AM ET

The State Fire Marshal's Office say the body is likely that of Randy Oliver, 56, who lived in the brick house on Jackson Road.

Authorities say a body has been found in the rubble of a Monroe house destroyed by fire Thursday night.

The State Fire Marshal's Office say the body is likely that of Randy Oliver, 56, who lived in the brick house on Jackson Road.

The fire was reported by a passerby at about 11:30 last night. The blaze caused the house to collapse into the basement, leaving only the exterior brick walls standing.

The fire is under investigation, but authorities say the damage was so extensive, it might be impossible to determine what caused it.

The body was taken to the state Medical Examiner's Office, where a positive identity will be determined.
