Sen. Angus King Surveys Fire Damage in Lewiston
05/17/2013 02:35 PM ET

U.S. Sen. Angus King is getting a look at destruction caused by three fires that destroyed nine buildings.

LEWISTON, Maine (AP) _ The Maine independent said Friday that he thinks Lewiston residents will bounce back from the string of fires that put residents on edge and led to the arrests of two men and two 12-year-old boys accused of setting the fires.

King says he's exploring whether federal funding is available to assist.

The fires over a span of just over a week in late April and early May displaced nearly 200 people. The Sun Journal newspaper says six buildings have been razed and three more will come down next week.
