Maine 2nd District congressman Mike Michaud says he's tentatively throwing his hat into the governor's race in Maine.
Michaud says he's launching an "exploratory campaign" for the Democratic nomination, and has established a campaign Web site.
The Maine Democratic Party released a statement saying "We are pumped! And Maine voters should be too!"
Former Maine Gov. John Baldacci has said he is also considering running for the Democratic nomination. Yarmouth businessman and town council chair Steve Woods says he's planning a run as well.
Also in the race is independent Eliot Cutler, who lost a close three-way race for governor in 2010.
