Maine Lawmakers to Reconsider Climate Change Study
06/26/2013 09:52 AM ET

Maine lawmakers are planning to vote on whether to override Republican Gov. Paul LePage's veto of a bill directing the state to study the impacts of climate change.

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) _ The Democratic-controlled House and Senate will reconvene on Wednesday to vote on a number of vetoed bills, including the climate change study bill.

LePage vetoed the bill on Monday. It would have required the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry and other state agencies to study and implement recommendations from a 2010 report on climate change.

In his veto letter, LePage says he has serious objections to bills that impose "unfunded mandates on the Executive branch'' and add "layers of workgroups.''

A two-thirds majority of present and voting members is needed to override a veto.
