Maine Sen. King to Travel to Turkey and Jordan

King says he wants to get a firsthand look at the impact the conflict in Syria is having on the region, and on U.S. national security interests.

Maine Sen. Angus King is headed overseas next week for a to Turkey and Jordan. King says he's traveling to the region with U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Carl Levin, a Michigan Democrat.

In a press release, King says the two want to get a "firsthand look" at the impact the conflict in Syria is having on the region, and on U.S. national security interests.

The senators plan a series of meetings, with foreign leaders and diplomats. They also plan to meet with American military commanders, civilian personnel and U.S. troops serving in the region.
