07/01/2013 10:23 AM ET

The Board of Bar Examiners has appealed a decision by a Supreme Court justice to allow Bailey to set up a law practice in Yarmouth, where he now lives.

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) _ Celebrity attorney F. Lee Bailey is going to have to wait months longer to find out if he's going to be able to practice law in Maine.

The Board of Bar Examiners has appealed a decision by a Supreme Court justice to allow Bailey to set up a law practice in Yarmouth, where he now lives. The full supreme court will consider the appeal.

Bailey, whose high-profile clients have included O.J. Simpson and Patty Hearst, was previously licensed in Massachusetts and Florida but was disbarred in those states for mishandling $6 million worth of stock for a client.

Peter DeTroy, Bailey's attorney, says the 80-year-old Bailey wants to practice law because he believes he still has something to offer.
