07/01/2013 11:06 AM ET

The preliminary fundraising total covers the period from the day Michaud formed his exploratory committee on June 13 until midnight on June 30.

BANGOR, Maine (AP) _ U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud has raised more than $300,000 in little more than two weeks after announcing an exploratory committee to consider a run for governor.

The preliminary fundraising total covers the period from the day Michaud formed his exploratory committee on June 13 until midnight on June 30.

David Farmer, Michaud's spokesman, said Michaud has raised more in 17 days "than the sitting governor raised in the first 17 months of his campaign.''

Also in the race are independent Eliot Cutler and several other candidates.

Michaud has not set a timeline for a final decision on his candidacy.
