Maine Democratic Leaders to Introduce Bond Package
07/02/2013 03:43 PM ET

They're also calling on Republican Gov. Paul LePage to speed up the release of more than a $100 million in voter-approved bonds.

Senate President Justin Alfond and House Speaker Mark Eaves say they'll introduce a bond package in the fall that will partially focus on infrastructure needs, including roads and bridges.

In a press release, both Democratic leaders also called on Republican Gov. Paul LePage to speed up the release of more than a $100 million in voter-approved bonds for transportation and other projects.

LePage has said he'll release the bonds, now that Medicaid debt to Maine hospitals is being repaid.

Adrienne Bennett, the govenor's press secretary, says the administration is working with the state treasurer's office to figure out which projects still need funding and plans an announcement soon.
