I-295 in Portland Reopens
07/19/2013 08:35 AM ET

Interstate 295 in Portland has reopened after it was shut down in both directions because of utility lines that had fallen across the roadway.

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) _ State police say the lines fell after an excavator struck a utility pole at a construction site near the highway at about 1 a.m. Friday. No one was hurt.

The road reopened at about 6 a.m.

The incident took place between the Congress Street and Forest Avenue exits, which were used to divert traffic off the highway.
