West Paris Teen Shot by Trooper Indicted
10/22/2013 09:53 AM ET

An Oxford County grand jury has indicted 18-year-old James Reynolds on burglary, theft and criminal threatening charges.

PARIS, Maine (AP) _ A Maine teenager shot by a state trooper during a confrontation in West Paris in June has been indicted on three felony charges.

The Sun Journal reports that an Oxford County grand jury on Monday indicted 18-year-old James Reynolds on burglary, theft and criminal threatening charges.

Authorities say Reynolds had broken into a West Paris home on June 8 and stolen beer and a hunting rifle before the confrontation with the state trooper.

Police say Reynolds pointed the gun at the trooper, who fired three shots, striking Reynolds in the head, arm and leg. An investigation by the state attorney general's office determined that the trooper was justified in firing his weapon.

Reynolds spent several days in the hospital.

A message left with Reynolds' lawyer was not returned Monday.
