Defense Secretary to Visit Maine's Bath Iron Works
11/12/2013 01:54 PM ET

Maine's two U.S. senators invited U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel to visit Maine defense facilities during his confirmation hearings earlier this year.

BATH, Maine (AP) _ Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is planning a visit to Maine's Bath Iron Works later this month.

Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King say the visit will happen at some point during his visit to Nova Scotia for a security conference between Nov. 22 and 25.

The senators invited Hagel to visit Maine defense facilities during his confirmation hearings earlier this year.

They said they're pleased that he'll get a chance to meet the ``highly skilled, hard-working men and women'' and the DDG-1000 destroyer that they're building at Bath Iron Works.
