Two Men Charged after Suspected Meth Lab Bust in Amity
11/27/2013 04:10 PM ET

Officials say brothers Kevin and Micah Carton of New Limerick were arrested and charged with manufacturing and trafficking methamphetamine.

Maine drug enforcement agents have uncovered the state's 18th suspected meth lab this year - an all-time record.
Acting on a tip, two MDEA agents found the lab Tuesday night at a remote hunting camp in Amity in Aroostook County.

Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland says brothers Kevin and Micah Carton of New Limerick were arrested and charged with manufacturing and trafficking methamphetamine.

"Our MDEA Laboratory Response Team, in protective suits, had to go in there to clean up this mess - it's highly explosive," McCausland says.

Aroostook County has traditionally been the location of much of the meth activity in the state. But McCausland says production and trafficking of the drug is slowly starting to shift southward as well.
