Maine Meeting on Elver Season Postponed
12/09/2013 10:03 AM ET

Today's snowy weather has prompted officials to postpone today's meeting for elver harvester and dealers that had been set for 1 p.m. in Brewer.

BREWER, Maine (AP) _ The Maine Department of Marine Resources is postponing a meeting on the upcoming elver season because of possible snowy weather.

Monday's meeting for elver harvester and dealers had been set for 1 p.m. in Brewer, but will be rescheduled another time. A second meeting, on Wednesday in Augusta, will be held as scheduled.

Elvers, or baby eels, are caught in Maine rivers and exported to Asia for use as seed stock in aquaculture facilities.
