Maine Realtors Upbeat About State's Economy
01/23/2014   Reported By: Tom Porter

Maine's real estate developers are upbeat about the state's economy. The Maine Real Estate and Development Association - or MEREDA - held its annual real estate forecast conference today in Portland. The group released its so-called MEREDA index, a metric launched last year to gauge the health of the real estate industry. The index ranked 77 - which, after seasonal adjustments, equates to a 1 percent increase over the last six months. MEREDA president Drew Sigfridson says Maine's real estate industry began rebounding last year after several years of recession-led declines. Tom Porter asked Sigfridson to explain what the latest ranking means.
