UMaine System Finance Chief Defends Budget Strategy
03/26/2014   Reported By: Mal Leary

Over the past week, students and faculty at the University of Southern Maine have repeatedly challenged the University of Maine System chancellor and the USM president over what they perceive as a "manufactured" financial crisis. They've pointed to the UMaine System's $183 million reserve fund, and questioned why faculty and programs need to be cut across the system's seven campuses when the reserve fund appears so robust. Mal Leary posed that question to Rebecca Wyke, the system's vice chancellor for administration and finance.
