Maine's Own Organic Milk Company Ending Production
05/16/2014 11:53 AM ET   Reported By: Tom Porter

MOO chief executive Bill Eldridge says the problem is not demand for the milk - which has quadruped in the last two years - but the poor state of a key piece of machinery.

MOO chief executive Bill Eldridge says the problem is not demand for the milk - which has quadruped in the last two years - but the poor state of a key piece of machinery.

"As our aging equipment has gotten more aged, it's really started breaking down," Eldridge said.

The company's carton-filling machine, he says, is not capable of meeting the requirements of MOO, which employs 12 organic dairy farmers.
