A century ago, a community of Jews in midcoast Maine was looking for a building to house a synagogue. With help from a local Catholic priest, their prayers were answered. Keith Shortall paid a visit recently to the Adas Yashuron synagogue in Rockland, which is marking its 100th anniversary, and produced this profile.
In the second of this two-part profile, we'll talk with the choir director of Adas Yashuron about a new CD that preserves some rare Jewish liturgical music brought to the United States from Eastern Europe.
