BELFAST, Maine (AP) _ A Belfast man found guilty in August of shooting his best friend has been sentenced to nine years in prison.
The Bangor Daily News reports a judge on Wednesday sentenced 21-year-old Luke Bryant to 15 years in prison with nine years to serve, and four years' probation. He was ordered to pay more than $3,000 in restitution and forfeit the gun used to kill 19-year-old Tyler Seaney.
Prosecutors say Bryant shot Seaney in the neck with a shotgun in February 2011 in Bryant's apartment. Seaney's girlfriend told police Bryant and Seaney used to play the "scare game,'' during which they would point and dry-fire guns at each other. Bryant told police he didn't know the shotgun was loaded when he aimed it at his friend and pulled the trigger.
