Pro-Romney Super PACs Make ad Buys in Maine
10/24/2012 01:44 PM ET

The pro-Romney Restore Our Future and American Crossroads PACs are launching TV ads this week in support of Romney's campaign in hopes of winning at least one of Maine's two electoral votes.

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) _ More ad money is coming into Maine in support of Republican Mitt Romney's presidential campaign.

The pro-Romney Restore Our Future and American Crossroads PACs are launching TV ads this week in support of Romney's campaign against President Barack Obama in hopes of winning at least one electoral vote, from northern Maine's 2nd Congressional District.

Maine allocates electoral votes in part by congressional district, with two votes going to the state's overall winner and one to the winner of each congressional district.

Nick McGee, the head of the Maine Republican Party's Maine Victory campaign, says the ad buys show that the Maine race is competitive, especially in the more conservative 2nd District.

Maine Democratic Party spokeswoman Lizzy Reinholt said the buys are an 11th-hour "act of desperation'' by Romney supporters.
