Biddeford Man Gets 5 Years for Cyberstalking

Shawn Sayer, 43, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Portland after pleading guilty in August to posting sexually explicit videos of his ex-fiance to the Internet.

A Biddeford man who pleaded guilty to posting explicit video clips of his ex-fiance to adult porn Web sites has been sentenced to five years in prison and three years of supervised release.

Shawn Sayer, 43, was sentenced today on a cyberstalking charge in U.S. District Court in Portland, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Maine.  Authorities say Sayer also created a Facebook account in his ex-fiance's name and posted links to the sexually explicit videos.

In addition, officials say, he created dozens of Yahoo! Messenger profiles featuring sexually explicit photos of her and inviting men to her home for sexual encounters.

Prosecutors say Sayer's cyberstalking continued for four years after he broke up with the woman in 2006, even after she changed her name and moved from Maine to Louisiana.   As a result, they say, several men showed up at the woman's Louisiana home seeking sex, causing her to fear for her safety.

Sayer pleaded guilty to the cyberstalking charge in August.  The case was investigated by the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit, with help from the U.S. Secret Service.
